High School Musical

Teign School Production 2010

The 2010 Teign School Production saw the ‘Performing Arts Department’ present Disney’s award winning ‘High School Musical’.  It was a very popular choice with over 200 people signing up to audition, play in the band or help out behind the scenes.

The plot is described by the author as a modern adaptation of Romeo & Juliet, High School Musical is a story about two high school juniors from rival cliques – Troy Bolton (played by Luke Smith), captain of the basketball team, and Gabriella Montez (played by Lauren Coates), a shy transfer student who excels in maths and science. Together, they try out for the lead parts in their high school musical, and as a result, divide the school. Despite other students' attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella resist peer pressure and rivalry, inspiring others along the way not to "stick to the status quo".

Public performances took place on Tuesday 2nd, Wednesday 3rd, Friday 5th and Saturday 6th (Matinee and Evening) February 2010 in Teign School Drama Hall.
